Scientific name: Piratinera guianensis

Description:

Its markings, which resemble those of a snakeskin, give this small, relatively rare timber its name.

Straight grain; fine, even texture; deep reddish-brown with irregular, horizontal black markings.

It can be difficult to work due to its hardness.

It machines and turns well and has an excellent finish and high polish.
