Common Names: Rock Maple, Sugar Maple, White maple
Description: Heartwood is light reddish-brown or light tan while the wide sapwood is nearly white. Hard maple has a fine uniform texture and is very strong and dense with close straight grain. A small percentage of the trees produce special figures such as bird's eye, curly or fiddleback. Machines and finishes well.
